MAKE A NEW CLAIM 0333 999 8800

Government legislation is set to take effect in April that will see fees for personal injury solicitors come out of the compensation awarded to the successful party.
Initially passed in May last year, the Legal Aid, Sentencing and Punishment of Offenders Act 2012 will see lawyers able to claim up to 25% of the compensation awarded to their clients in the event of a successful case, rather than being allowed to claim all their fees from the opposing side as is the case now.
What this means is that if you win a case, your opponent will not have to pay all your costs any more on top of the compensation you have been awarded. Your solicitor fees will be your responsibility, and a contribution may come out of the amount you have been awarded.
To help balance this out, the government has also stated that all compensation should go up by 10% in personal injury cases in order to ensure those who make a successful claim are not too disadvantaged.
If you have been injured and think you may be entitled to make a personal injury claim, it is not too late for you to have your case processed under the old system. However, it has never been more imperative that you act quickly if you want to receive 100% of your compensation.
Personal injury claims will remain subject to the same time limits, usually, three years after the incident took place, and Sheldon Davidson Solicitors have always advised quick action for those who wish to claim. This advice is all the more pertinent with the arrival of these changes.
Those who do act quickly can still get help from Sheldon Davidson Solicitors under our no win, no fee agreement. We have years of experience representing people in personal injury cases and can help with everything from slips, trips and falls to Medical Negligence Claims.
