An accident involving a car and a motorcycle in Salford has highlighted the importance of taking care on the road this winter.
A Vauxhall Astra collided with a Suzuki motorbike near a junction on Trinity Way – one of the busiest roads in Greater Manchester. The 32-year-old motorcyclist sustained several injuries and was rushed to hospital for immediate treatment.
It is understood that a Stagecoach bus stopped at the scene on Trinity Way for a short while, and police have implored passengers who witnessed the incident to come forward as they may provide further insight.
In a road traffic accident, the burden of proof lies with the victim – in other words, you need to be able to prove that the other motorist caused the collision.
For this reason, gathering witnesses and taking photographs at the scene can greatly strengthen your case. While this is not always possible or practical for the victim, it can be vital in proving who was at fault.
Given the potential for accidents on busy inner-city roads, it is imperative that as a motorcyclist you take great care at all times when on the roads.
In winter the roads are often wet and therefore there is a higher risk of skidding. There is also the fact that you are not as well protected as motorists in cars, vans and lorries.
However, no matter how cautious you are there is always the possibility that you will encounter a motorist who is not so careful.
If you have been unfortunate enough to be injured in a motorcycle accident that was caused by another motorist, you may be able to make a personal injury claim.
