The Law Society has unveiled a new advertising campaign that it hopes will encourage victims to use a personal injury solicitor instead of dealing directly with insurance companies.
Consumers will see the tagline ‘Don’t Get Mugged By An Insurer’, which aims to highlight the disparity between compensation amounts awarded to those who accept an insurer’s first offer compared with those who use a personal injury solicitor.
Information gained from the Financial Services Authority through freedom of information shows that claimants who rejected an insurer’s initial offer and consulted personal injury experts ended up receiving as much as three times that amount in their eventual compensation.
To help the public get access to the help they need, the Law Society has included a tool that allows readers to search online for personal injury solicitors near them, allowing easy access to the information they need.
Spreading the message
This personal injury campaign is the latest in a series of advertisements put out by the Law Society, and it will continue until early August.
Promotional posters will be seen on public transport and at bus and train stations, while there are also plans to release a radio advert, a YouTube video and other forms of online promotion.
Chief executive of the Law Society Desmond Hudson said: “We need to make a clear message, see your solicitor, don’t accept the insurer’s first offer and don’t deal with claims management companies.”
”Pursuing your claim with a solicitor will mean you get what you are genuinely entitled to,” he added.
