Katie Morgan

I am an aspiring Solicitor and graduated from the University of Greater Manchester in Summer 2026. Over the past six years, I have specialised in Housing Disrepair, developing extensive experience in both the pre-litigation and post-litigation stages of claims. During this time, I have assisted tenants in pursuing claims against landlords who have failed to comply with their legal obligations to maintain and repair their properties, helping clients secure both the necessary repairs to their homes and appropriate compensation for the inconvenience, distress and losses they have suffered.

Throughout my career, I have managed claims from initial instruction through to conclusion, providing support at every stage of the legal process. My experience includes taking detailed instructions from clients, assessing the merits of potential claims, gathering and reviewing evidence, obtaining relevant documentation, preparing and serving Letters of Claim, liaising with landlords, housing associations and their legal representatives, instructing surveyors and reviewing expert reports, negotiating settlements, and ensuring claims progress efficiently in accordance with the Housing Conditions Pre-Action Protocol.

In addition to my pre-litigation work, I have experience assisting with litigated matters, including preparing court documentation, drafting witness statements and schedules of damages, liaising with Counsel and the courts, complying with case management directions, and supporting claims through the litigation process to settlement or trial where necessary. This breadth of experience has provided me with a comprehensive understanding of Housing Disrepair litigation from inception through to resolution.

I appreciate that living in a property affected by disrepair can have a significant impact on a person's health, wellbeing and quality of life. I therefore pride myself on providing a friendly, approachable and professional service, taking the time to understand each client's individual circumstances, explain the legal process clearly, and ensure they feel supported and informed throughout their claim. 

As I continue my journey towards qualifying as a Solicitor, I remain committed to developing my legal knowledge and practical experience. I enjoy working in an area of law where I can make a genuine difference to people's lives by helping them secure safer living conditions and ensuring landlords are held accountable for their legal responsibilities.

Outside of work, I enjoy keeping active by going to the gym and spending quality time with my friends and family.
